Love Birds Nest: Something Like A Mini Vacation

One day after returning home from our family fun weekend we were back on the road. This time we dropped off the kids at Grandma and Grandpa's and continued on to Rochester for DH to do some practice oral boards with Mayo anesthesia consultants. DH passed his written boards this fall and now this Spring he will take his oral boards. These he describes them as the "tough" boards. I would think every board exam is extremely tough but this is the mack-daddy of them all. He's been busy studying at home a couple of hours every day. I went along for moral support ..... ah..... more like shopping without kids. ;) We stayed in the Cities for one night to shop, dine and to pick up our media console for the upstairs media room. It was massive and took up half of the back. DH was nervous we wouldn't fit our luggage and additional shopping items in the car. I assured him there was lots of places to strategically place bags in the car. I'd like to report we successfully got everything off my list and nothing strapped to the top. It was close. :) We had a nice time in Rochester. We drove by our old neighborhood astonished by all the snow! I got to have a coffee date with two dear friends, Jen & Jenny. And we had a very nice meal with our great friends Ryan and Jenny. Ryan graduated with DH but stayed at Mayo one more year to do a pediatric anesthesia fellowship. We are very happy for them as they, too, are moving back to their hometown of Omaha where he'll start work at Children's Hospital.

The kids had a blast at Grandma and Grandpas. Evie got to be with her best friends, Sam, the cat and Macy, the dog. Will got to help Grandpa do chores and play dress up with Brynn. Grandma and Grandpa even braved taking them to the Children's Museum along with Scott, Lindsey and Brynn! What awesome grandparents!
