Tradition has always been important to me. As soon as we were married, we made the tradition that every night for supper we'd sit at the dining room table and eat our prepared meal without any distractions; no TV and no phone calls taken or placed.
We still continue this tradition with Will. We pull up his highchair next to our table and eat together as a family. This year for Lent when DH and I were trying to decide what we wanted to give up, we had a new idea. Instead of giving up something materialistic like we usually do, we decided instead to add to our spiritual growth daily. We decided the best way to devote a few moments of silence everyday to our Lord is by a supper prayer. So since the beginning of Lent we pray together as a family before every supper.
What fills my heart with love is Will now clasps his hands when we say, "let's pray, Will.". It's the cutest thing ever.
And I pray that our family supper prayer will become a new daily tradition for our family.
