Florida Vacation: Arriving

The kids did great on the three plane rides. We weren't worry about Will. As long as we had the iPad loaded with new games, we was fine. Evie we were worried about. But I was prepared with lots of new activities (coloring book, stickers, window clings, magna doodle) and a few new ipad games for her too. Evie actually slept for some of the airplane rides. Both kids really enjoyed watching us land by pointing out the houses, trees and cars. And both loved the clouds! Will got some wings from the pilot and he thought that was cool.

We had a little bit of a stressful beginning to the trip. We were exhausted when we landed at 2:30 pm into Panama City. We had been up since 4 am to catch our 5:10 am flight out of Aberdeen. We received a car from our rental company after specifically asking for a SUV. We had three very large suitcases plus a stroller and I worried that it wouldn't all fit. All of their SUVs were recalled that day. It all fit so we were off for the 30 minute drive. We arrived to our house at 4pm to find that the house hadn't been cleaned! Dirty dishes, counters, floors, bathrooms and bedsheets. I had taken so much time researching the right house for us. And every comment about this house was always about how clean it was when they arrived. So imagine how disappointed we were. I immediately called the owners. They got ahold of the cleaning lady and she had the wrong week down for our stay. She was on her way to clean. So we didn't unpack suitcases or the 5 bags of groceries we already bought. Instead we took the kids down to the beach to play and then out to supper. By 8:30 the cleaning lady was finished. We were all exhausted! The kids did well considering no naps and up since 4 am. The owners apologized repeatedly and paid for our supper that night, comped the cleaning fee, and gave us a $100 credit to a local grocery market. In the end, it was fine and the house was great. Just a rocky start.
